I had a theory prior to leaving for my holidays that if I REALLY left everything behind for the week I was off that everything would be ok. By ok I mean my workload wouldn’t be out of control and there wouldn’t be a million disasters to stamp out when I got back.
So I set up auto-responders and away messages and vowed not to check my email for the full 9 days I was scheduled to be away.
I got back today and everything was just as crazy as it ever is. So I my theory was vindicated. I think. I have a new theory that a seven-day vacation is only designed to make you feel refreshed for first day you’re back. To properly test this theory I propose an eight-day cycle starting with seven days of leisure and “climaxing” with a day at the office. Naturally I am only referring to an eight-hour workday here.
