I am installing WindowsME *shudder* on Machine II. Hopefully Machine II will be less trouble that my production machine was, while ingesting WindowsME. Machine II is comprised mainly of a heap of legacy hardware minus the soundcard, which gave me the most grief (in hardware errors) the first go round. Amongst my piles of derelict machinery (I seldom ever throw anything away thank heavens) I discovered a live 8 gig drive that I had counted as dead, but on the umteenth examination was really working (spinning and detected by the CMOS) but with a bad partition on it. The partition now dispatched, leaves the drive completely workable. I am lucky indeed.
Machine II is destined to be a dedicated gaming machine for Rabbit, and has just the minimum system power needed to run WindowsME (hopefully) and the low-cal games she favours. Right now her favourites are Picture Lines™, which recently supplanted her previous preference Tetris™. Now our computer room can be more than the exclusive party-of-one club than it has been. Now I can be a nerd while rabbit unwinds. Life continues to be good.
